Xzien is a group of projects and services run by one person(for now).
We are based in Dublin, Ireland.

Xzien loves design and Xzien loves a well built backend, we take passion in what we built and what we provide.

Such services include website design, mobile development and building custom systems for small companies.

Who is behind Xzien.

Hello and Welcome, my name is Stephen Kerr.

I've been in website design for about 4 years.
I specialise in a number of powerful languages such as Java, PHP, Objective-C and JavaScript.

I love design, I think a massive part of any product is the overall design of the interface. The interface also effects the user experience and it is important to have a good balance of the experience of the product and how the product looks.

And I have experience with using C, C++, C#, Ruby(Ruby on Rails), Python and SQL.
My Preferred machine is a Macintosh, it has everything I need and all my tools work well together, I think Windows is not as efficient and Linux is nice but the UI is not attractive.

My skills range from advanced programming topics such as Machine translation, 3D development using OpenGL and OpenID/OAuth all the way to designing with Photoshop and building HTML5 applications.

I have being building programs in Java for over four years and I have experience with Grails, Java3D and Swing.

I prefer to work with the web as I absolutely love using JavaScript, I think it's a really useful and powerful tool and I enjoy using it. I have used jQuery, Node.js, Prototype and some other JavaScript libraries and frameworks in recent projects.

I also have tons of experience using Wordpress, I have built a number of plugins and themes for Wordpress, I have also built a framework for Wordpress. More can be found at Theme Pixie. I have decided to move all my development work to Theme Pixie for future reasons. You will also find Canary there, Canary is my own design framework. Canary has been used to built most of my projects and this website.

I have used Drupal 6 and 7, I am not a fan of this system as I think it's not easy to use and is more for programmers than non-computer people and I have built a number of custom modules in a recent project.

I have built a number of iOS projects and I really enjoy using Objective-C, I think it's a nice alternative to Java-like syntax. My project Spaci has an iOS application for the iPhone and is currently private to the public. You can find more at Spaci or contact me for more information.

I have designed multiple websites for a number of businesses such as Montana Kitchens, Kerr Developments and Dundalk Fabrications to name a few.

I also have built and maintain a number of projects such as Tutorialmode, Theme Pixie and Spaci. I have more project ideas for the future.

I am currently a final year student in Dublin City University studying Computer Applications.

I enjoy Kayaking, designing websites and making/mixing music.

Projects

Tutorialmode

Tutorialmode is currently a simple tutorial blog, there will be a new version of this website coming soon. Right now I can't release any information about it, but it will be big. We have wanted to build tutorialmode this way for sometime but we never had the resources and technologies like we do now.

Spaci

Spaci is a two part network, it consists of a website and iOS application. The website is a local directory for people to find places nearby. This includes products and other information. The iOS application is a social network for people, users can also easily modify any information on the network and build content around themselves and their friends.

Theme Pixie

Theme Pixie is our store, it is currently the most profitable idea so far. Theme Pixie simply build templates for systems such as Wordpress and Shopify. It also sells premium services such as our custom content management system which our other projects use and it sells plugins for Wordpress.

Theme Pixie also contains a number of free tools and resources anyone can use, such as Canary, our design framework.

Our website projects generally start at 850.00 euro. - That includes everything listed in the list above.

Mobile Development.

We currently only develop for iOS but in the future we will support Windows 8 and Android.

Again like our website design service, you will own full rights to this application and you will host it yourself. Hosting an iOS application is quite easy, but it will cost around 85 to 99 euro per year for the developer license.

The price is determined on (size of app X complexity of app X time X how busy we are)

How we work - for our services

If your hire us, we will be treated like you are our employer, we only work on one project at a time.
So this is a two way relationship, if it's a one way relationship we will end the project and stop. Payment can be done in two ways, 50& at the start and 50% at the end or 10% payments throughout the development of the project.

You will hire us for a set time, this time is our expected due date. If we go over this limit we will continue work and not stop until the project is ready.

Once we start you cannot change your mind, we will ask you questions during the development process which will be design decisions.

We develop our work in Dublin, Ireland.
